Rodrigo García

 

Rodrigo García (1964, Buenos Aires) is a Spanish-Argentinian director, dramaturge, video artist, and set designer. He is the director of Centre Dramatique National de Montpellier (France).

 

In the 90s García founded La Carniceria Teatro in Madrid. His work has been produced by prestigious festivals and theatres around the world: Festival d’Avignon, Centro Dramatico Nacional de Madrid, Théâtre National de Bretaigne, Venice Theatre Biennial, Festival d’Automne à Paris, Festival de Otoño de Madrid, Schaubühne Berlin, Deutsche OperBerlin, Athens Festival, Tokyo Festival, Bonlieu Scène Nationale d’Annecy, steinricherherbst (Graz), Berliner Festpiele, among others. In 2009, he was awarded UNESCO’s Europe Theatre Prize/New Theatrical Realities.

 

Over 20 of his books have been published in France by Solitaire Intempestifs. Three of his books have been published in Portugal by Cotovia/Livrinhos do Teatro.

In Portugal, he presented several pieces at Festival Citemor (Montemor-o-Velho). Ronald the McDonald’s Clown was presented at Centro Cultural de Belém. 4, co-produced by CDN Montpellier and Festival d’Automne à Paris, was performed at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II and Teatro Municipal do Porto – Rivoli in 2015.
