Mutantes – entre o teatro e o museu is a new national and transdisciplinary project for the formation and creation of new artistic paradigms, for young people between 18 and 28 years old, from different backgrounds and with different knowledge and skills. It develops from the ideia of an artistic device and its different possibilities of use. It is moved by the acknowledgment of its exploration both in the performative arts as well as in the expository contexts and it intends to analyse the places of art, questioning its modes of fabrication.

Mutantes is inspired by the potentiality of (de)formation, by the genetic hybridism (between one thing and another), here between the theatre and the museum, and by the crossing of source materials (sets of parts from other sets), searching here to disarrange genders, essences, roots, identities and places.

Between the 19th of March and the 18th of June, the group gathers on Saturdays by the morning, in different cultural spaces — theatres, museums and art centres — from the Greater Lisbon Region (Casa da Cerca, Culturgest, MAAT, Museu Berardo, Teatro do Bairro Alto e Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II), collecting genetic material for their mutations.

Mutantes is a project from BoCA – Biennial of Contemporary Arts, with the direction of Sara Franqueira, in collaboration with the artistic teams and the mediation of the partners. A new project which promotes learning in non-formal contexts and assumes itself as a process of inquiry and research for new models of collaboration between the performative arts and the visual arts.
