PRESS PLAY
Streaming of performances and films by artists who question the relationship between the performing body, architecture and the camera. Artistic projects based on the profound relationship between body-chamber or body-architecture, here focused on closed spaces. It has the cooperation of BoCA x Tate Modern, BoCA x Collection of Serralves Foundation and the BoCA archive. A escolha far-se-á directamente ora do arquivo da BoCA, ora via parcerias com outras instituições.
We count on a partnership with Tate Modern, in which Catherine Wood (Senior Performance Curator at Tate Modern) selected 3 performances conceived exclusively for the “BMW Tate Live: Performance Room” series (2011-2015), a series of performances live broadcasted and designed exclusively for cyberspace, commissioned by Tate. The Serralves Foundation Collection will also present Portuguese artists, namely Silvestre Pestana’s videos-poems-performances. Every Thursday until -at least – 30 June 2020.

In “Diaoptasia” (2015), the multidisciplinary Nigerian artist Otobong Nkanga invites us to experience the process of live editing, putting the artist’s body in dialogue with other devices (such as text and camera), resulting from these encounters unexpected relationships. This performance, created for cyberspace, was presented for the first time and exclusively in the BMW Tate Live – Performance Room series (curated by Catherine Wood), and will be shown again on Thursday at 9pm on BoCA YouTube channel.
