Podeserdesligado
Born as a provocation from the perception of the rare access black people have to the equipment needed to produce music in Brazil, Podeserdesligado (1988, Rio de Janeiro, lives in the north of São Paulo, Brazil) is a Live PA project that reflects and celebrates black narratives through Afro-diasporic rhythms and elements of Funk, Electro, Break and Gabber.
With creations that includes artistic projects of various kinds, Podeserdesligado works as a music producer. She graduated from the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and it was there that she began to investigate and experiment with sonorities in the visual field of performance. She composed the soundtrack for the film NEGRUM3 by Diego Paulino, winner of the 22nd Tiradentes Film Festival, which has several awards under its belt, including best original soundtrack. She also signed the soundtrack and sound design for UMA NOITE SEM LUA by Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro and DELIRAR O RACIAL by Davi Pontes. Last year, Pode produced music for VOGUE PT campaigns; released the soundtrack for the medium-length film ENTRE A COLÔNIA E AS ESTRELAS by filmmaker Lorran Dias, together with TV coragem; and was awarded the prize for best soundtrack at the 55th Brasília Film Festival for the short film CALUNGA MAIOR by Thiago Costa.
With releases on labels such as Mamba Rec, Tormenta, DSRPTV, Cerealmelodia and Circa (PT), her work unfolds in various formats. She produced the music for the album Traquejos Pentecostais para Matar o Senhor with Ventura Profana, and produced the remix Bixa Travesty – Poder & Glória for the album Pajubá remix I by Linn da Quebrada. Pode was part of the production team for Josy Anne’s MOZAMBA album, and released the iconic Especial de Natal album alongside Nãovenhasemrosto. She is currently on tour with the play Pumpitopera Transatlântica by the MEXA group, directed by João Turch, where she is the musical director and plays the soundtrack live.
