Nuit des Idées, which will take place in Lisbon on 17 September at Culturgest, is associated with a performance-conference by trans philosopher Paul B. Preciado, “Can the monster speak?”, integrated in the programme of BoCA. The questions raised by this performance invite a reflection on contemporary phenomena of proliferation, such as gender, or determined by a logic of excess, such as acceleration and speed.

Both genre and acceleration, in their current manifestations, are part of the rule of hyperthelia, that is, the logic that consists in going beyond its own ends. And both are strongly marked by “More ?” – the regime of proliferation and intensification – which, modalised as interrogation, is the general thematic proposal of the Nuit des Idées (Night of Ideas).

The programme includes a convivial moment with NaMesa cocktails; a round table entitled “Gender: plural, scandalously plural”, in which Sinziana Ravini, P. Feijó and Cláudia Varejão discuss the expanding force of the + sign in the LGBTQI+ acronym, subject to progressive expansion; a debate with the motto “The great escalation of the LGBTQI+ acronym”. Feijó and Cláudia Varejão discuss the expansive force of the + sign in the LGBTQI+ acronym, which is subject to progressive expansion; a debate with the motto “The great escalation of acceleration and speed”, which includes the screening of three films from the CNAP’s collection that make a seditious apology for idleness, body rhythms and the slow gestures of unproductive labour, followed by a conversation with Laurent de Sutter, Jerôme Lèbre and Carla Baptista. The round tables are moderated by António Guerreiro.
